Admissions
Do I need prior medical experience to enroll? +

What are the age requirements to enroll? +
Students must be at least 18 years of age to enroll in the EMT Certification Course. CPR and First Aid courses may accept students as young as 16 with parental consent. Contact us for specifics on each program.
How do I apply? +
Fill out the inquiry form on our homepage and one of our advisors will contact you within 24 hours. They'll walk you through program selection, scheduling, and the enrollment process step by step.
Is there a background check requirement? +
A background check is required for EMT Certification enrollment, as it is required for state certification and employment in EMS. Our admissions team will provide guidance on this process during onboarding.
Programs
How long is the EMT Certification Course? +
The EMT program typically runs 14–16 weeks depending on the cohort schedule. It includes both classroom instruction and hands-on clinical skills labs. Accelerated options may be available — ask your advisor.
What is the difference between ACLS and PALS? +
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) focuses on managing cardiac emergencies in adults. PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) is specifically designed for emergencies involving infants and children. Both are advanced certifications typically pursued by healthcare providers with foundational clinical training.
What does the Vocational Assessment include? +
The Medical Field Vocational Assessment is a structured evaluation of your skills, aptitude, and career readiness for the medical field. It includes a practical skills review, career pathway consultation, and written evaluation — ideal for career changers or students exploring their options.
What does the Externship include? +
Externship placements are coordinated with partner EMS agencies and healthcare facilities. Students gain direct patient care experience under the supervision of credentialed professionals. Placement availability varies and is typically offered to students who have completed or are completing their core certification.
Certification
Are Griffin EMS certifications nationally recognized? +
Yes. Our programs are aligned with national EMS education standards. EMT graduates are prepared to sit for the NREMT (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians) exam. CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications follow American Heart Association guidelines.
What exam do I take after the EMT course? +
After completing the EMT Course, students are eligible to sit for the NREMT cognitive and psychomotor (skills) exams. Passing both is required to obtain your national and state EMT certification. Griffin EMS provides exam prep support throughout the course.
How often does CPR/First Aid certification expire? +
CPR and First Aid certifications are typically valid for 2 years. We offer renewal courses for individuals and groups. Our EMT Refresher course satisfies continuing education requirements for NREMT recertification.
Career
What jobs can I get after completing the EMT program? +
EMT certification opens doors to roles in municipal EMS, private ambulance services, fire departments (with additional training), hospital emergency departments, event medical staffing, and more. It also serves as a strong foundation for paramedic school, nursing, or other clinical healthcare careers.
Does Griffin EMS help with job placement? +
Yes. We connect qualifying graduates with externship opportunities and maintain relationships with local and regional EMS employers. While we cannot guarantee employment, our career support team actively assists students with resume building, interview prep, and agency introductions.
Cost & Schedule
How much do the programs cost? +
Tuition varies by program. Contact our admissions team for current pricing on each course. We are committed to transparent, competitive pricing and can discuss payment plan options during your consultation.
